Now with the innovation in the technologies, nano formulations paves pathway for the development of novel herbal drug delivery systems with enhancing bioavailability, therapeutic effect and reduced toxicity. Many novel carriers such as nanoparticles, phytosomes, liposomes, microemulsion, etc. have been reported for successful modified delivery of various herbal drugs. Nano formulation shows various benefits conventional delivery approach such as enhanced absorption, bioavailability and reduction in side effect, novel approaches used for improving safety and efficacy of such herbs, type of active ingredients used for developed nano formulations of herbal drugs for dermal care to achieve better therapeutic response, herbal medicament can solve the scientific needs (such as determination of lethal dose, therapeutic dose, pharmacokinetics parameters, mechanism of action, site of action, suitable route of administration etc.) for developing novel drug delivery system, such as solid lipid nanoparticles, solid lipid microspheres, micro-emulsions, dermal and transdermal patches, solid dispersions, liposomes, phytosomes, ethosomes and nanoparticles.
